You will travel as needed to engage with donors and secure major gift solicitations, playing a pivotal role in cultivating and soliciting major donor prospects for MSU’s upcoming capital campaign. As a member of the ComArtSci Advancement team, you’ll assist the Senior Director of Development in planning for the capital campaign, which includes developing funding priorities, identifying and cultivating leadership gifts and recruiting volunteers.

The education, experience and skills desired for this role include a four-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Business and three to five years of experience in public relations, volunteer administration, fundraising, or marketing. It is also helpful to have a collaborative team-oriented work style, experience in public speaking and excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.

Job of the Week: Laborer for Forest Akers Golf Courses

This week’s featured job is a temporary position as a Laborer at Forest Akers Golf Courses for  Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (job posting 956729). Forest Akers is the award-winning home course for Big Ten men’s and women’s golf teams, earning Best Campus Courses four of the last six years, 2022 Best Golf Schools and Academies from Golf Digest, and more.

Forest Akers Golf Course is looking for someone to maintain and complete various routine tasks between their two public courses. In this temporary position, you will keep things in order and make the Forest Akers Golf Courses the most inviting place to be for students, staff and the community.

In this entry-level position, you will assist in performing maintenance tasks for specifically the East and West courses. Some of these responsibilities include mowing grass (including greens, tees, fairways, surrounds, etc.), seeding and sodding, and applying fertilizer. Additionally, you will also conduct preventative maintenance on the equipment, cleanup the courses, and perform maintenance on the irrigation systems regularly. MSU landscape services prides itself on helping employees maintain a positive work-life balance – capping you at 40 hours per week at the course. 

To apply, you should have some knowledge of the tools, methods and materials utilized on golf courses. You should also have proper footwear, a good driving record,  be comfortable lifting between 26-75 pounds, and be prepared to work in any weather condition. Job of the Week: Occupational Safety Compliance Officer

This week’s featured job is an Occupational Safety Compliance Officer position for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) (job posting 955849). CANR is seeking an Occupational Safety Officer to enhance and lead the College’s safety management program. In the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, students use science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business and creative design to tackle some of the world’s biggest problems related to food, health and the environment.

In this senior-level position, you will oversee workplace health and safety for CANR faculty, staff, students, and visitors while building and fostering a safety-focused culture. In addition, you will develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve a comprehensive occupational health and safety management system. The Occupational Safety Officer will also investigate safety and health concerns and maintain records necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, physics, chemistry or a closely related field. Job of the Week: Veterinary Nurse

This week’s featured job is a Veterinary Nurse for the College of Veterinary Medicine (job posting 954961). The Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine is the destination for teaching, innovation, care, and service while meeting the needs of society in addition to clinical services and education. The College supports animal health programs conducted by both the Michigan Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 

In this position, you will supervise a team of veterinary nurses and assistants within the Academic Programs unit of MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. You will actively interact with and coach students using cutting-edge teaching models, specimens, cadavers, and live animals. Your role is integral to managing the teaching lab facilities, cooperative development, and oversight of proper lab protocols. 

Your success in this role requires but is not limited to, continued development of your knowledge of veterinary medicine, proficiency, and continual refreshing of clinical skills for instruction and coaching students in an engaged, hands-on, and positive environment. You’ll also need skills in handling animals of multiple species, including behavior and restraint, physical examination, and assessment of normal and abnormal conditions.  

The ideal candidate will have two to three years of college, technical, or vocational school with coursework in Veterinary Technology. They would also be licensed as a Veterinary Technician in Michigan or attain licensing within their first year. Work experience would include patient care, surgery, drug dosing, and sterilization. Desired, but not required, qualifications include a Bachelor’s in veterinary technology, experience working with livestock, multi-species animal nursing, and biological sample collection techniques. Job of the Week: Athletic Trainer I – Football

Job of the Week: Communications Manager for IPF

This week’s featured job is a Communications Manager for Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF)  (job posting 940897). IPF builds, maintains, and beautifies MSU’s physical campus environment in support of the university’s education, research, and outreach missions. 

In this position, you will collaborate with team members to plan internal and external strategic communication strategies and tactics related to key initiatives and priorities. You will be responsible for designing, creating, editing, and adapting content while coordinating multimedia components for integrated communication efforts. These could include photography, videography, graphic design, and script writing. You will engage in strategic storytelling through feature writing and article development and manage social media content. 

This is a pool posting for two positions that will require working on campus regularly 2 -3 days per week minimum. It is not fully remote.

Required qualifications for this position include completing a four-year college degree program in journalism, communications, or public relations and one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience. 

IPF desires a candidate with experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier), website content management systems, and SharePoint. You must have the ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and re-prioritize work when needed.

Job of the Week: Intercollegiate Athletics Assistant Director of Production

This week’s featured job is an Assistant Director of Production for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (job posting 941448). The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics works with MSU’s 23 intercollegiate teams, as well as club and intramural sports.

In this position, you will lead cinematography and serve as one of the primary feature producers for the EMMY award-winning docu-series ‘Spartans All-Access.’ In addition, you will collaborate with Spartan Vision producers to create engaging content for the Michigan State Athletic Department’s social media accounts and marketing initiatives. This includes producing, filming, and editing features for Spartans All-Access online. Other responsibilities include editing recaps, highlights, and player features, as well as defining color standards for Spartan Vision’s post-production workflow. 

You will assist producers in creating content for Michigan State Athletics’ various entities and provide insight to advance the department with emerging trends in social, digital media, and in-venue entertainment. In this role, you will fill network, local, and internal footage requests while meeting quick turnarounds to post high-quality videos the same day as athletic events. Consistency in brand guidelines and messaging related to all content produced is required. There will also be team/production-related travel involved.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree in Television Production or Telecommunications. Three to five years of related work experience in studio and remote television production, editing, and the use of television equipment is required. Experience with long-format documentary production, 360/VR, and a Part 107 license is desired, but not required to apply.

Job of the Week: Digital Marketing Manager (Temporary/On-Call)

This week’s feature job is a temporary/on-call Digital Marketing Manager position for the Department of Supply Chain Management in the Eli Broad College of Business (job posting 934142). The Department of Supply Chain Management prepares students for the next era of SCM and careers in areas such as procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and transportation.

For a new graduate certificate program that is launching in the fall 2024 semester, you will plan, develop, and execute all paid and organic digital marketing endeavors, including key phrase research, SEO/SEM, marketing database, social media, and email advertising campaigns. You will also develop strategies for promoting the program, along with standard KPIs and goals. 

You should feel comfortable creating and executing digital campaigns which could include paid search, display, retargeting, IP targeting, and paid social media advertising. Developing and editing content for digital promotional materials while negotiating and placing advertising with a wide variety of media advertising sources will be required. 

The ideal candidate must have knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Journalism, Telecommunications, Public Relations, or Marketing. Five or more years of work experience in digital marketing is recommended along with proficiency in social media management systems (i.e. Sprinklr, Facebook Business Manager, etc), social media platforms, Adobe programs, and dashboard creation.
