Job of the Week: Unit Human Resources Administrator I

Job of the Week: Farm Assistant Manager

This week, MSU Human Resources features a job posting from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources for a Farm Assistant Manager position (posting 787521). Jobs of the Week: Openings with the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities

This week, MSU Human Resources features three job openings with the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD)–Assistant Director of Assistive Technology (posting 770997), Ability Access Specialist – Chronic Health (posting 770998), and Ability Access Specialist – Neurodivergence (posting 760382). Join RCPD and contribute positively to MSU’s reputation for excellence in facilitating the inclusion of persons with disabilities in a range of educational and work-related opportunities. 

The Assistant Director of Assistive Technology reports to the Director of the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities and will oversee the development of proposals, programs, partnerships, funding sources, and visibility efforts that expand assistive technology leadership at MSU. This individual will collaborate with the Director of the RCPD and Ability Access Specialists to develop and operationalize strategic plans, document needs, and report on progress in advancing ability and opportunity. 

Individuals interested in the Assistant Director of Assistive Technology should have a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to educational technology accessibility, such as special education, higher education administration, information technology, etc. The selected candidate will have extensive working knowledge of assistive technology and a vision for its role in facilitating full participation by persons with disabilities. There are two openings for Ability Access Specialists–one for chronic health and one for neurodivergence–both reporting to the Director of the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities. These specialists provide advising, service direction, consultation, and referrals to persons with disabilities to facilitate full participation in university programs and services. They provide outreach, consulting, and presentations to university faculty and staff to create an environment of accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities. The Ability Access Specialists develop and administer programs and services intent on increasing engagement in the mission and programs of MSU, fostering student success, and advancing career and life success. 

Requirements for the Ability Access Specialists include a master’s degree in special education, rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field. They should have knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to persons with disabilities and educational and employment-related accommodations, skills, and tools used by persons with a range of disabilities. They should also have a working knowledge of assistive technology and its role in facilitating full participation by persons with disabilities and strong collaborative and team skills balanced by an ability to operate independently with minimal prompting.

Job of the Week: Health Care Representative

Job of the Week: Skilled Trades Supervisors

Job of the Week: Events Worker

This week’s featured job from MSU Human Resources is a temporary/on-call Events Worker with the Department of Police and Public Safety (posting 771329). 

If you or someone you know enjoys the events at Michigan State University such as concerts, sporting events, outdoor functions, and other university special events, this temporary/on-call support staff position might be just right! If selected for this position, you would work at an assigned station in a concession stand helping with food preparation and operating a cash drawer. You may also be assigned to parking enforcement, ushering, or other event-related responsibilities as needed. 

This role is important in ensuring the safety and success of MSU events by performing regular rounds of the complex, monitoring secured areas, leading and directing in emergencies, reporting crimes, and more. Successful applicants will be available to work in this job capacity for a minimum of one year. The hours available for this position currently include nighttime hours, primarily over weekends, at a rate of approximately 8-15 hours per week. 

If you are interested in this position, you should have great communication and interpersonal skills and a high standard of ethical conduct. The physical demands include being able to stand or walk for an entire shift. Additionally, applicants will be expected to become Red Cross certified if they are not already, and pass radiation safety worker training.
