This week’s job of the week is a Chief of Staff (#598922) for the College of Education. This position is seeking an individual who will be responsible for financial, human resources, and technology operations for the College of Education.

The responsibilities for this role include assisting in directing and implementing policies, procedures, and programs of the human resource function for academic and non-academic employees. Other responsibilities for this role include managing external and internal financial data requests, working with colleagues in other academic colleges and administrative offices across the university and supervising facilities and classroom managers. The Chief of Staff will report to the Dean of the College of Education.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by a four-year college degree program in Education, Business Administration, Accounting, Management or related field; five to eight related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial management and analysis, personnel management, and computer systems use and development; effective interpersonal skills, as well as experience with supervising professional and support staff; experience working with faculty required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job of the week – Facilities Coordinator

This week’s job of the week is a Facilities Coordinator (#597441) for the MSU Detroit Center. This position is seeking an individual to manage and oversee the building operations and services for the MSU Detroit Center building.

The responsibilities for this role include assisting in planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the annual building operating budget. Other responsibilities for this role include communicating with university units to resolve problems, updating procedures and coordinating maintenance and improvements.

Job of the week – Business Operations Manager

This week’s job of the week is a Business Operations Manager (#595096) for the Center for Regional Food Systems in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. This position is seeking an individual to manage daily operations, financial and personnel procedures, processes and management activities of the center.

The responsibilities for this role include setting up new operational systems, supporting the director in the annual review process and supporting operational procedures. Other responsibilities for this role include maintaining systems to track award income and calculating and preparing cost distributions.

Job of the week – Research Speech-Language Pathologist/Speech Therapist I

This week’s job of the week is a Research Speech-Language Pathologist (#593452) for the Department of Radiology in the College of Human Medicine. This position is seeking an individual to perform speech history interviews and standardized speech-language testing for children participating in the department’s research studies.

The responsibilities for this role include utilizing measures such as the Stuttering Severity Index (SSI-4) and Test of Childhood Stuttering (TOCS). Documentation of all evaluations must be done with accuracy, detail, and within a timely manner.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor’s degree work, such as a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience evaluating and providing speech therapy to traumatic brain injured and aphasic populations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job of the week – Research Assistant III

This week’s job of the week is a Research Assistant III (#591496) for the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the College of Natural Science.  This position is seeking an individual to be part of a vibrant research environment using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to address a broad range of biological questions in various areas.

The successful candidate will obtain a leadership role to oversee daily operations, instrument support and user training. A strong background in protein biochemistry, cryo-EM grid preparation and sample optimization for cryo-EM structure determination is required.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge by completion of one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or structural biology; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research methodologies, software, optimization, data collection or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This week’s job of the week is a Boiler Operator (#587050) for Infrastructure Planning and Facilities in the Department of Power and Water. This position is seeking an individual to operate and monitor gas boilers, steam turbines, and auxiliary equipment. The responsibilities for this role include combining cycle gas turbines, auxiliary equipment and handling water treatment equipment. Other responsibilities include working with steam turbines, cooling towers, and compressors.

Job of the Week – Dairy Farm Herder

This week’s job of the week is a Dairy Farm Herder I (#586596) for the Department of Animal Science. This position is seeking an individual to care for assigned herd dairy cattle, maintain livestock barns and assist in animal research.
