Job of the Week: Professional Aide for the College of Veterinary Medicine

This week’s job of the week posting is for a Professional Aide (Posting 697985) performing writing and project management duties for the College of Veterinary Medicine. This is a three-month temporary position with the possibility for extension. The college includes four biomedical science departments, two clinical departments, two service units and various research units. In 2020, the College of Veterinary Medicine at MSU was ranked third in the U.S. and top 10 in the world

As the Professional Aide, you will be responsible for writing for the Office of Marketing and Communications in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, you will be expected to provide administrative, organizational, editing and research support for a special historical project for the college.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, History or Professional Writing and at least two years of professional writing/project management experience. You will be a proficient, deadline-oriented writer with the ability to adapt your writing style to suit the genre and audience. You must have research skills and be able to understand complex subjects such as medicine, research and science. Candidates must be able to interview subjects and develop creative and frequent stories. Lastly, the ideal candidate should have experience and/or knowledge of generating web and social media content, project management skills and conduct historical research.

Job of the Week – Project Manager

This week’s job of the week is a Project Manager (#628566) for MSU Information Technology (IT) Services. MSU IT provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology across MSU.

This position is responsible for planning and tracking small to medium projects of simple to medium complexity/risk and supporting the academic and administrative business requirements of MSU. Projects will include, but are not limited to, software application development and implementation, infrastructure implementations/installations, process re-engineering, and implementation of process improvements.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in business administration, management or field related to the employing unit; three to five years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in project management leading projects’ experience in project scheduling using a scheduling tool, business analysis, facilitating/training with a focus on business management, workflow process analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job of the Week – Hub Project Manager

This week’s job of the week is a Hub Project Manager (#602040) for The Hub for Innovation in Learning and Technology. This position is seeking an individual with strong problem-solving and communication skills, who possesses a broad understanding and experience planning and managing a portfolio of product and/or service design projects.

The responsibilities for this role include providing project management strategy and guidance for The Hub, managing changes to projects’ scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques, assisting in the development of project objectives and project plans, and working with Hub management on resource planning, availability and allocation to project objectives. Other responsibilities include conducting research and data analysis, preparing reports, and performing project close assessments to identify opportunities for growth, to maximize operational effectiveness, amend processes and procedures, and assess work performance.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in design, business administration, research, education or field related to the employing unit; three to five years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in product and design project management, business analysis, facilitating/training with a focus on business management; experience working with multiple high-level stakeholders, work flow process analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
