Job of the Week: 4-H Program Coordinator

This week, we are featuring the 4-H Program Coordinator, an offsite position looking to hire for St. Joseph, MI (posting 710500) and Hillsdale, MI (posting 709099) in the Extension of Children and Youth Department.

This full time position has duties including providing leadership for 4-H Youth programs through clubs, after school programs, youth mentoring, and school enrichment efforts. These duties are carried out by ensuring that MSU Extension Volunteer selection procedures are followed before and during programming; training and leading local volunteers to reach out to others in their communities; attending and acting in an advisory capacity for 4-H at councils and other county-wide committee meetings; leading programs based in efforts towards diversity, equity, inclusion and civil rights; working collaboratively with directors, educators and program partners to implement the education priorities of 4-H throughout the community; using program development and advisory committees to conduct needs assessments for the county and its residents; and providing leadership, management and oversight of all county related finances associated with 4-H. The desired qualifications and experience for this position include a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in youth development, volunteer management skills, demonstrated knowledge and awareness of social, cultural, and economic diversity in the community in which you are looking to work, strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in technology and ability to travel some long distances. Job of the Week: Director of High School & Community Relations

This week, we are featuring the Director of High School & Community Relations position (posting 708416) in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. 

The goal of this position is to establish, maintain, and improve relationships between high school coaches and the Michigan State football staff. The main responsibilities of this position will be cultivating and maintaining relationships with high school administrations and staff through outreach and educational programs. Secondary responsibilities include liaising between the University and high schools, coordinating and directing marketing efforts for programs such as the MSU Coaches’ Clinics and research visits from high school coaching staffs, promoting the philosophy and objectives of intercollegiate athletics programs, and serving as the principal contact for high school coaches. Job of the Week: Research Technologist I

This week we’re highlighting a Research Technologist I position (posting 707910) for the Clinical Neuroscience Lab. This is a funded project investigating abnormal visual perception in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in many aspects of the study including recruiting and scheduling participants, performing clinical interviews, collecting behavioral and neuroimaging data, and organizing study data. In addition, this position will involve general lab management, including maintaining ethical protocols. The research technologist will also have the opportunity to prepare scientific results for publication and presentation. Finally, there will be the opportunity to participate in mental health outreach activities. There will be ample opportunity to learn novel methods in functional neuroimaging, vision science, and clinical science; accordingly, this position should be viewed as a stepping stone toward gaining entry into graduate or professional school.

You should have knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in psychology, neuroscience, or related discipline and up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques. Job of the Week: Public Engagement Coordinator

This week’s job of the week is a Public Engagement Coordinator position (posting #707290) for the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at MSU.

This position will serve as operational coordinator for the public programs and special events of the museum and report to the Director of Operations. Your primary responsibility is to plan and execute both public and private events, including rental clients from grassroots community organizations to corporations. Job of the Week: Audiovisual Technician

This week’s job of the week is an Audiovisual Technician (posting #705059) for the College of Nursing.

This position will provide assistance to faculty and students with instructional hardware, software, audio-visual and simulation equipment in terms of set up, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting as requested for scheduled classes, on-site events, distance learning programs, special events, and more. You will be responsible for the day-to-day support of classrooms and meeting rooms that require technology needs. This week’s job of the week is a Skilled Trades Supervisor position (posting 702128) for MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities.

This position will supervise the Power & Water Instrument & Controls (I&C) Maintenance Department, which reports to the director of utilities. Job of the Week: Clerical Aide

This week’s job of the week posting is a temporary Clerical Aide (Posting 699226) position for the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). 

This position is in a fast- paced, customer service environment. Responsibilities include answering and directing phone calls; interaction with clients (veterinarians, veterinary technologists and animal owners) by telephone and in person; data entry; editing using software programs; and preparing purchase requisitions. Other duties involve working on a video display terminal 90 percent of the time with some walking, bending and stooping.

IT Purchasing Agent Position (700245)

For the IT Purchasing Agent position, you will be a part of a team of buyers who are responsible for purchasing information technology, such as software, hardware, Saas and related commodities. Responsibilities include procuring complex commodities and services that require extensive knowledge and expertise; collaborating with university stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure MSU gets the best value when spending public funds;  evaluating purchase requisitions; writing and soliciting proposals; determining suppliers to be solicited for information, proposals and quotations (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs); carrying out public bid openings to prepare and evaluate bid analyses and approve the selected vendor. 

You will be expected to frequently communicate, collaborate and interact with Purchasing Department management, campus clients, current/potential suppliers and be an active participant on campus committees. 

The ideal candidate will have the knowledge equivalent to that of completing a four-year university and/or degree program in supply chain management, business or communication with relevant courses in purchasing, materials management and inventory control, information technology or related field. Purchasing Agent Position (700310)

For the Purchasing Agent position, you will be responsible for procuring complex commodities and services requiring extensive knowledge and expertise; collaborate with university stakeholders and subject matter experts; evaluate purchase requisitions; write and solicit proposals; formulate specifications for large-scale purchases and determine suppliers to be solicited for requires for information, proposals and quotations (RFIs, RFPs and RFQs). Other responsibilities include conducting big openings and preparing and evaluating bid analyses; managing supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance for commodities and/or suppliers; negotiating prices, terms and conditions with suppliers and writing, approving, issuing and administering purchase orders for MSU.

This position also requires frequent communication, collaboration and interaction with Purchasing Department management, campus clients, current/potential suppliers and to be an active member on campus committees.

A successful candidate has the knowledge equivalent to that of a four-year university and/or degree program in supply chain management, business of communication with relevant courses in purchasing, materials management and inventory control or related fields. Job of the Week: Professional Aide

This week’s job of the week posting is for a Professional Aide (Posting 699373)  performing phlebotomist or medical assistant duties for a research team doing home visits near Kalamazoo, Michigan. This is a temporary position paid per hour. 

You will be responsible for measuring study participants’ blood pressure, height and weight, drawing blood following venipuncture protocols, collecting other personal samples from participants, labeling samples and submitting accurate payroll time sheets. Other responsibilities include adhering to COVID safety protocols and maintaining professionalism by being punctual and polite. 

The ideal candidate is required to be an experienced phlebotomist and/or medical assistant, trained and experienced conducting veinous blood draws, has a high school diploma or equivalent and must be able to pass a criminal background check. Desired qualifications include completion of over 50 successful blood draws and experience with pediatric phlebotomy.

Job of the Week: Camp/Conference Aide

This week’s job of the week posting is for a Camp/Conference Aide (Posting 695385) for MSU Extension in Oakland County. MSU’s Tollgate Farm and Education Center is seeking staff with a background in one or more of the following areas: education, agricultural science, cooperative games, music, food science, entomology, forestry, gardening, fisheries and wildlife. 

As camp/conference aide, you will be responsible for performing various duties in support of summer camp and conferences such as responding to participant concerns, questions and emergencies, maintaining/monitoring campus rules, checking in and out of participants, and attending meetings. This position may involve overnight supervision of participants. This is a 12-week temporary or on-call position ranging from June 7 to August 27. 

The ideal candidate has experience working with children in formal and informal settings (school, summer camp, scouts and others) and works effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Desired qualifications include having a current CPR/First Aid certification OR willingness to participate in training before the first day of camp. Candidates should also possess knowledge of the natural world and work closely with wildlife and farm animals. Ideal candidates must be physically active for an eight-hour shift and be able to life 50 pounds. They should also demonstrate commitment, reliability, punctuality and responsible behavior at previous jobs.
