This position will ensure end user support for all tier 1 and 2 requests in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, MSUE and AgBio Research. With snow days at MSU and continuous winter weather warnings, being informed about what’s happening at MSU is essential. MSU Alert notifies recipients through email, text messages or phone calls of emergency happenings at MSU, including tornadoes, terrorism, winter weather-related activities and other potentially hazardous situations.
The MSU Alert system creates awareness among the MSU community of potentially hazardous or dangerous situations happening at MSU.

The MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities crew sure has had their work cut out for them this winter! As the snow continues to fall, they keep working hard to clear the walkways and roads on MSU’s campus. The winter storm at the beginning of January brought several inches of snow and ice to the streets of East Lansing. IPF landscape crews cleared approximately 5,500 cubic yards of snow away from campus parking lots and intersections.

IPF and Residential Hospitality Services work together to ensure that walkways, parking lots and ramps, steps, and roads are cleaned up by the time staff and students arrive to campus. After plowing the snow, the crew applies ice melting compound to prevent any injuries due to slipping and falling. If it weren’t for this hard working crew bearing the cold for us, traveling around campus would be much more difficult!

February is a month to celebrate your heart. Not only do we celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th, but we must also be aware of heart disease. Heart diseases are the number one killer of American’s today, while strokes are the number four killer. The research done by the American Heart Association can be very helpful for those who want to learn more about the risks and causes. The Go Red for Women campaign strongly encourages everyone to participate in National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 7 to raise awareness about heart disease in women.
The American Heart Association claims that a healthy lifestyle will decrease the risk of heart disease. Here are some tips from them to maintain a healthy lifestyle:
Don’t smoke
Maintain a healthy weight
Engage in regular physical activity
Eat a healthy diet
Manage blood pressure
Take charge of cholesterol
Keep blood sugar, or glucose, at healthy levels
Fill your heart with love this month, but don’t forget to always keep it healthy.

This week we are highlighting a Quality Management Coordinator position with MSU Health Team (Posting #8991). This position coordinates quality management and improvement programs within HealthTeam clinics; operationalizes all third party payers incentive programs requirements at HealthTeam; collects, aggregates, analyzes, interprets, distributes and reports on quality management data within HealthTeam and to third party payers as needed; coordinates quality improvement projects including analyzing project needs, developing work plan and time lines, and writing progress and evaluation reports; leads informal work group sessions in areas of clinical guidelines, quality measures for health plans, disease management and specific quality improvement initiatives; establishes and promotes participation in quality initiatives through site visits, in services and consultation; makes formal presentations of information at various HealthTeam committees and departments; extracts, compiles and manipulates data from data base systems to produce reports; verifies and analyzes data to ensure accuracy and resolves inconsistencies and discrepancies in data.
