This position oversees and administers Chemistry’s human resources (HR) function across all employee types; serves as a resource to the department administrator for all aspects of human resources administration; writes and maintains recommended job descriptions; participates in recruitment and interview processes; executes hiring recommendations; implements departmental orientation; provides departmental HR training to supervisors for employee development and performance management activities; acquires and maintains labor relations knowledge through interaction with HR Employee Relations and by reading and interpreting union contracts; serves as a liaison between management and functional offices; gathers hiring information, and ensures availability of funds for related positions, oversees and approves bi-weekly payroll and a variety of payroll forms; assists in preparation of reports; assists in human resources-related services for Chemistry’s business office, research support office, graduate office and main office as needed.

This position serves as the resource expert on University Advancement endowment matters; creates and compiles reports by gathering pertinent information; creates documents; compiles and analyzes data and reports and provides administrative support for projects; prioritizes, gathers, screens and relays sensitive information received from University donors, executives, trustees, faculty and staff; develops and maintains positive relationships with various offices on- and off-campus; interprets University and unit policy, protocol and administrative procedures in response to inquiries and initiates necessary action; assists in planning and developing fiscal procedures; compiles and analyzes information in order to produce and assist with departmental reports; provides administrative support to the Director of Finance & Endowments for University Advancement while ensuring strict confidentiality; schedules, coordinates and maintains calendars and schedules; arranges domestic and international travel; processes reimbursements, transfers funding, processes payments, and establishes and reconciles accounts; serve as backup to other support staff when needed.

The holidays are the hub of the decorating and gift giving season and what better way to find décor and gifts then at the 2013 MSU Holiday Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the MSU Union.

The MSU Holiday Arts and Craft show is sponsored by the University Activities Board (UAB) and is one of the largest indoor arts and crafts shows in the state. The show features a broad range of items, such as handmade soaps, candles, furniture, jewelry, home décor, children’s toys, paintings and more. Jenison Field House offers an indoor track available to faculty, staff and students. Availability of the track varies each day due to classes and possible events. The track is not available on weekends and typically closed on Fridays and Mondays for event setup and/or break down.
