The Clerical-Technical Recognition Award is presented annually to a Michigan State University support staff member performing clerical-technical duties. The recipient is selected from nominations received by the CT Recognition Award Selection Committee. The award is sponsored by the Thomas and Concettina Gliozzo Endowment Fund to recognize outstanding MSU clerical-technical employees.

2017 marks the 15th anniversary of the award. To commemorate the occasion, two recipients were selected.

This year’s winners are Wendi Winston and Tracy Abbott!

This weeks job of the week is an Accounting Clerk II with Residential & Hospitality Services.

This is a Clerical Technical position with accounting responsibilities within both the RHS Payroll and RHS Central Business Office to assist the department and controller and ensure compliance with the MSU and RHS Business Manuals. This position oversees accounting and payroll processing of a Department or Unit in the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services; processes and audits labor distributions, payroll reports, records and submissions, and supervises student employees in order to provide accurate accounting records and services

Eligible candidates will need experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, AIS Document Viewer, Ultra Time timekeeping system, Quick Books, Kinetics, and the Enterprise Business System

Inspirational Woman of the Year Award Nominations 2018

The Inspirational Woman of the Year Award recognizes the achievements of women staff and faculty affiliated with Michigan State University (including main campus and all of-site and satellite campuses). The award highlights woman-identified individuals who demonstrate integrity, leadership, quality performance, integrative and inclusive action, and influence on campus and in the global community.

There are three categories that will be awarded this year:

  • Professional Achievement will be awarded to a woman who demonstrates a unique drive and passion for her career and contributes positively to MSU’s culture of excellence.
  • Community Engagement will be awarded to a woman that demonstrates a commitment to engaging and advancing communities and organizations at Michigan State University and/or in communities beyond campus, through service/volunteerism, leadership and/or involvement.
  • Culture of Empowerment will recognize a woman who has demonstrated dedication to the advancement and empowerment of women on campus and/or across the globe through mentoring, programs or other leadership opportunities.

This weeks job of the week is a Simulation Assistant I with the College Of Osteopathic Medicine Learning And Assessment Center.

In this position, Assistants will be responsible for supply inventory and stocking; ensure clean, safe and optimal teaching and learning environment; set-up, cleaning, maintenance and inventory of equipment; assist with implementation of programs/events and education support as directed which may include operation of simulator(s); direct flow of participants/learners; function as Standardized Patient or Standardized Healthcare Provider; prepare materials and assist in instruction of American Heart Association Basic Life Support courses; support marketing and customer service activities such as tours, open houses, conferences, workshops, etc.

Eligible candidates should have an Associate’s degree in healthcare related field preferred; working knowledge related to operation of high fidelity human patient simulators and familiarity with a variety of partial task trainers; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and/or BLS Instructor certification. A valid drivers license is also required.

Managing Difficult Customers

Every day, we are faced with new situations, people and conflicts. Organization and Professional Development has created a class to help you prevent and de-escalate situations.

In this featured course, attendee’s will be provided with practical information and methods designed to enhance internal and external customer service, learn strategies to maximize individual and team performance, positive communication and cohesiveness to manage circumstances before, during and after the situation.

The objectives of this course include:

  • Learn self-management techniques to enhance one’s ability to effectively navigate a potentially difficult situation.
  • Learn to proactively identify precipitating factors, situations, and dispositions that could be warning signs.
  • Explore the Integrated Experience and Verbal Escalation Continuums.
  • Learn, discuss, and practice non-violent (hands off) crisis intervention techniques.

This course will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 am in Room 10, Nisbet. Come out and learn something new and share your experiences!

Everyone knows that meal prepping is a great way to save calories and money, but getting started is always the hardest part! We put together a few healthy meal options that are perfect for busy work days to keep you on track with your health goals and keep your wallet happy too.

If you’re looking for healthier meal options without the prep, there are 10 dining halls on campus available to you. Menus are updated online and note gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy-free options. Other on-campus dining includes the Food Truck, Crossroads Food Court in the International Center and The Union Food Court.
