Prepared to be amazed, inspired and bedazzled at this year’s 2013 East Lansing Art Festival and the 2013 MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The East Lansing Art Festival (ELAF) is a two-day outdoor event held in the downtown streets of East Lansing. The MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show is also a two-day outdoor event held outside the MSU Union near the corner of Grand River Ave. and Abbot Road. The ELAF and the MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show are held alongside each other. Each event is sponsored separately.

The East Lansing Art Festival includes more than 200 artists from across North America, free live music on two outdoor stages, an Emerging Artist program highlighting the work of up-and-coming artists and more.

The 2013 MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show features various artists all selling handmade items such as candles, furniture, jewelry, home and yard décor and more.

Since their inception 50 and 49 years ago respectively, the East Lansing Art Festival and the MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show have been held on the same weekend and have participated in cross promotion to reach a larger audience.

The East Lansing Art Festival is a non-profit community event backed by donations, underwriting and support from the City of East Lansing. The event is produced by the East Lansing Art Festival Board of Directors.

The MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show is sponsored by the University Activities Board (UAB) at MSU. All show proceeds go directly toward UAB student events, which provide community building and social opportunities for all students on MSU’s campus.

CATA buses will run approximately every 10-15 minutes between MSU’s Parking Lot #91 and the MSU Union on Saturday, May 18 from 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, May 19 from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Parking is free at Lot #91 located at Service Road and Hagadorn Road.

Both shows are free and open to the public.
