This week we are highlighting a Residential and Hospitality Services Assistant/ Lead position (Posting 7843). Some of the job duties for this position will be to utilize EBS and Ultra Time employee data and interface reports in order to process payroll and human resources hiring actions in accordance with the MSU Business Manual and contractual agreements; generate, audit and adjust automatic interfaces between SAP and Ultra-Time to correct and facilitate hiring and payment of employees; collaborate with other RHS Payroll team members and unit managers within the division to exchange pertinent information to reconcile and update employee records and reports; audit work of others to ensure accuracy; provide training to new employees and unit supervisors, as well as participate in outreach programs designed to assist RHS units; communicate as a key element of daily operations.

Pack your bags, lace up your walking shoes and prepare for fun on your trip around the Greater Lansing area for the “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town” event on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., sponsored by the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“Be A Tourist in Your Own Town,” was started 19 years ago to increase community awareness of the different attractions in Greater Lansing and the tourism industry’s impact on the area. Job of the Week 5/24/13

This week we are highlighting an Office Supervisor II position with the MSU College of Education (Posting 7795). Some of the job duties for this position will be to assist the department chairperson in Educational Administration with course scheduling, grade submission, department space assignments and inventory; assist in developing plans, objectives, policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of the department and assigned administrative area; process personnel, research and service projects; compile and analyze information in order to produce and assist with departmental reports including enrollment, admissions, faculty assignments, evaluations and committees; interpret and assist in developing policies and procedures in order to answer questions and resolve problems; interact with and work effectively with a wide range of individuals including faculty, staff and students; assist and act as a resource for faculty and staff within the department in the use of technology in teaching and development and delivery of courses.

MSU Archives & Historical Collections Offers Great Services for You!

MSU Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) offers great services to MSU faculty and staff.

UAHC’s record management is responsible for the management of the university’s inactive records, including the preparation of retention schedules for its administrative, fiscal, personnel and academic records. UAHC can assist your team in the efficient administration and management of official paper and electronic records of the university. MSU faculty and staff can take advantage of the ongoing support and training to the in records management, storage and retrieval to comply with all relevant state and federal laws and regulations available at UAHC.

The reading room within UAHC has kept historical materials preserved and secure, as well as readily available for public research. The documents available at the reading room include maps from throughout campus history, scrapbooks from alumni and class rivalry posters. Job of the Week 5/17/13

This week we are highlighting an Administrative Assistant II/S position with the MSU Colleges of Human and Osteopathic Medicine (Posting 7754).  The MSU Colleges of Human and Osteopathic Medicine are seeking applicants with proven ability to effectively manage multiple, complex tasks under strict time demands to fill the position of Medical Student Education Administrator in the Department of Psychiatry; this a demanding position requiring the management of medical student educational processes and the psychiatry clerkship records for over 500 medical students per year in the colleges of Human and Osteopathic Medicine; this position does involve conducting small group presentations and occasional travel; components of this position include: coordinating psychiatry clerkships in the communities of Lansing, Detroit, and Grand Rapids and developing student rotation schedules; conducting Lansing psychiatry clerkship orientation sessions for rotating medical students; coordinating elective psychiatry clerkships in the Lansing community and developing student rotation schedules; acting as the CHM department clerkship administrator for Psychiatry; providing training, current materials, and current information on policies and procedures to psychiatry clerkship coordinators in other communities; maintaining psychiatry clerkship course records on all COM and CHM medical students completing their psychiatry rotations; and other tasks.

2013 Summer Camp and Youth Programs at MSU

With MSU summer camps and youth programs, students from elementary schools, middle schools and high schools have the opportunity to make new friends and learn about a variety of topics.

School will soon be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean learning has to stop. MSU hosts a wide variety of summer programs for kids of all different ages. These programs foster learning, generate social interaction and encourage a whole lot of fun. The range of programs and offerings are massive but most of them can be broken down into four main categories: Creative, Academic, Sports and Technology.

Kids and teens can get in touch with their creative side this summer. MSU’s summer camp programs in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences are designed for high school and middle school students. Prepared to be amazed, inspired and bedazzled at this year’s 2013 East Lansing Art Festival and the 2013 MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The East Lansing Art Festival (ELAF) is a two-day outdoor event held in the downtown streets of East Lansing. The MSU Spring Arts and Crafts Show is also a two-day outdoor event held outside the MSU Union near the corner of Grand River Ave. and Abbot Road.
