Spring Cleaning Your Office – Part 1

It’s that time of the year, when you may think about clearing out your home or office. Sometimes “spring cleaning” can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Watch this video by HRD facilitator Randy Dean on how you can remove clutter and simplify the task of organizing and cleaning your office.

When eliminating office waste, take advantage of the recycle and shredding bins provided by the MSU Recycling Center and Surplus Store and delivered to your office for free by filling out a service request form on their website. Visit recycle.msu.edu/about/services/office-clean-out/ for more information. Remember this spring: Be Spartan Green!

  1. I really like the touch once, 3-minutes or less rule and plan to try it! Regarding the bonus tip on a dumpster day, please consider calling it an office clean-out day or something instead and emphasize that they can get big recycling containers and bins for shredding from the recycling center and surplus, rather than trash dumpsters. Almost everything can either be recycled or go to surplus. See recycle.msu.edu/about/services/office-clean-out/. Thanks!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! We recognize that Randy used some old terminology, and we did add a note about the recycling containers available to employees/departments. We will add your additional information to the post too. Thanks again!

  2. Thanks for the smart updated comment Lisa. You are absolutely correct. I need to update that term from “Dumpster Day” to something better. I’m betting 95% of the materials coming out of most offices are recyclable (even after shredding.) Much better way to dispose of those materials.
