Take Your Child to Work Day Comes to MSU

Take Your Child to Work Day is approaching quickly and MSU has a ton of exciting and educational events and activities planned for children ages 8 to 14, with a supervising adult. Join MSU on April 25, 2013,
8:30 a.m.–3:00p.m. to welcome future Spartans on this exciting day.

The theme this year is Spartans in Training:  Work in Progress, which aims to remind our youth to be brave as they reach for their dreams, explore new challenges, and attain the success in education, work, and beyond.

Take Your Child to Work Day is not only a great opportunity for children to have fun and experience work for one day, but it can also help start a conversation about his or her own future. Each event planned gives the children an opportunity to explore different interests.

From 8:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m., various 30-minute departmental tours and career exploration activities are set across various areas of campus for children to enjoy. Children will have the opportunity to explore Beaumont Tower, participate in archery at Demmer Shooting Sports Training Facility, and inspect the insects and bugs at MSU Bug house.

MSU Human Resources is also joining the fun. Children will be interviewed, have the opportunity to take a typing test, and then be “hired” as a part of MSU HR staff. After they have joined the team each child will have their photo taken to receive a MSU ID badge.

A recognition ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the main lounge of the Union, where the children will receive a certificate for their day of “work.” Free gifts will be provided to the first 100 age-appropriate children—so get there early!
