Heart Health Can be Easy!

Look good, feel good! Help your heart look good and feel good this month – February is American Heart Health Month. Heart disease and strokes are both in the top five for leading causes of death in the United States.  According to the American Heart Association, there are seven steps to take action against heart disease and stroke:

  1. Manage Blood Pressure
  2. Control Cholesterol
  3. Reduce Blood Sugar
  4. Get Active
  5. Eat Better
  6. Lose Weight
  7. Stop Smoking

The American Heart Association website is packed with tools and resources to improve your life. One of their tools is a recipe database to assist you in making heart healthy meals such as Tailgate Chili, Better Breakfast Tostada with Avocado and Eggs, and Baked Oat-Crusted Chicken Fingers with Sweet Mustard Sauce! The MSU Health4U website also has articles, recipes and resources to help you in the kitchen.

Another resource on the American Heart Association website is an activity tab packed with activity guides, fitness basics, motivation and a kids channel to get the entire family involved.
