Job of the Week 8/18/17

This week we are highlighting an Assistant Director Residence Education (posting #457452) with Residential and Hospitality Services. This position provides leadership and direction for the residence halls in a neighborhood and is the residential representative for neighborhood initiatives. Ā This position also supervises and evaluates live-in professional staff and acts as liaison between the Engagement Center and the residential units within the neighborhood.Ā  Other duties include, but are not limited to: chair of committees and liaison for institutional committees; consults with necessary partners on mental health issues; coordinates with judicial officers on appeals for contract terminations due to behavior and/or mental health issues; collaborates frequently with Assistant Director of Facilities of neighborhood; participates in duty rotation/crisis response management; works closely with the 24-hour Security Specialist to ensure policies and procedures are being followed and accountability is in place; develops and administers budgets for neighborhood; works collaboratively with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs and Physical Plant, and MSU Police; disciplines staff as needed with guidance from Human Resources.

Job of the Week 8/4/17

This week we are highlighting a Data Resource Analyst (posting #454000) with the College of Human Medicine. The Data Resource Analyst will work with the Institute for Health Policy staff to support the data management and statistical methods necessary to conduct health care research and quality analysis for Michigan Medicaid and other Michigan Department of Health and Human Service stakeholders. This position will be responsible for building analytic files comprised of statewide Medicare, Medicaid and/or Commercial claims/encounter and enrollment files augmented with clinical/assessment data and census data. Analyst must be willing to devote time to data cleaning, management and validation to generate usable data sets and will be expected to participate with scholarly writing.

Job of the Week 7/28/17

This week we are highlighting a Farm Manager I (posting #452506) with theĀ College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. This position will manage the daily operation and maintenance of Sheep Teaching & Research Center to facilitate the teaching, research and extension missions of the Animal Science Department and maintains active communication with the South Campus Farms Coordinator, Sheep Farm Faculty Coordinator and Animal Science Chair. Additionally, this position will manage the daily care of a highly productive sheep flock including execution of the breeding, health and nutrition programs; coordinate flock health program with the MSU farms veterinarian and farm faculty coordinator; maintain and evaluate flock health, breeding and productivity records; develop a feed budget in coordination with the faculty coordinator and south campus farms general manager and manage feed inventories; manage costs and prepare reports on farm finances; and manage staff and student employees including interviewing, hiring, evaluations, scheduling and resolving grievances and complaints.

This week we are highlighting an International Student/Scholar Advisor I (posting #449036) with the Office of International Students and Scholars (International Studies and Programs).Ā The International Student Advisor will advise J-1 international students/scholars and F-1 students on immigration, personal, academic and cross-cultural matters. The advisor serves as a part of the core team administering MSU’s Exchange Visitor Program; this includes: serving as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the J visa program and assisting with SEVIS compliance; reviewing J-1 visa applications for new or continuing Exchange Visitors; working as an overall part of a team to support international students and scholars. The advisor will interact frequently with, conduct outreach for and train MSU academic units seeking to host J-1 Exchange Visitors.
