This weeks job of the week is a Simulation Assistant I with the College of Osteopathic medicine in their Learning and Assessment Center.

Candidates for this position should expect the following responsibilities: supply inventory and stocking; ensure clean, safe and optimal teaching and learning environment, facilitate check-out/check-in of simulation equipment; communication with equipment vendors to ensure optimal functionality; maintenance and purchase of simulation equipment and related supplies; assist with implementation of programs/events and education support as directed which may include operation of simulator(s); direct flow of participants/learners; function as Standardized Patient or Standardized Healthcare Provider; and more.

Associate’s degree in healthcare related field preferred; knowledge normally acquired through a high school education in addition to one year clinical care experience and/or certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or minimum one year experience as a hospital technician (e.g. ED, OR, ICU). Working knowledge related to common medical/surgical instruments, equipment (ex: IV pumps, defibrillators) and set-up of clinical procedures.

Today’s job of the week is a Police Officer with the Department of Police and Public Safety. The Michigan State University Police Department invites applicants interested in working for a progressive, growing, full-service police department to apply.

Officers patrol a nearly 13 square mile campus mixed with urban and rural elements. Community policing is strongly emphasized through a neighborhood model to enhance the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Eligible candidates must posses a Bachelor’s degree; Certified as a Police Officer in the state of Michigan or Certifiable as a Police Officer in the state of Michigan, subject to verification or re-verification by a Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) approved training academy, or currently enrolled in an MCOLES approved training academy and certifiable by date of hire

Work hours are 12- Hour shifts 6:00AM-6:00PM or 6:00PM-6:00AM and will rotate through the year.   Every home football game is a mandatory workday for MSU police officers; other events such as March Madness, large concerts, or any additional event determined by the police chief may require a mandatory workday for civil disorder duties.

This weeks job of the week is a Health Care Coding Analyst. This position is with the MSU Health Team- Pediatrics And Human Development department. This position is full time with standard 8-5 work hours.

The successful candidate will conduct medical record review and analysis in order to facilitate charge capture and to ensure accurate coding of medical services; will enter billing data abstracted from medical records to appropriate billing systems; assists in determining policy and procedure pertaining to medical coding; conducts training under direction of the HealthTeam Central Business Office.

Eligible candidates should have a knowledge equivalent to the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate’s degree; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in medical billing including medical terminology, procedural coding, diagnostic coding, Blue Shield/Medicare/Medicaid/ HMO/PPO claims processing; hospital medical record coding, including procedures and evaluation management services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; certification as a Certified Professional coder

Eligible candidates should have an Associate’s degree in healthcare related field preferred; working knowledge related to operation of high fidelity human patient simulators and familiarity with a variety of partial task trainers; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and/or BLS Instructor certification. A valid drivers license is also required.

This weeks job of the week is a Industrial Hygienist I with the Environmental Health And Safety department.

In this role, individuals will Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace hazards and risks within the University community; monitor working environments in order to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; develop and perform training to all levels of workers, especially in research areas and facilities.

Eligible candidates should have an education and experience in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Toxicology, or closely related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in analytical methods and instrumentation, chemical calculations, gas chromatography, spectroscopy, scintillation counting, industrial hygiene monitoring techniques, the distillation and handling of hazardous materials and knowledge of Federal and State health/safety regulations.

This position is funded for one year from the date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal. Some health risks include exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and body fluids; wearing a respirator and working in noisy areas.

This week’s highlighted position is a Senior Tax Analyst with the Controllers Office. This individual will assist University Tax Manager with analyzing and compiling University tax information for reporting, perform financial analysis/reviews of departmental activity to determine potential tax reporting requirements; assist in identifying and interpreting newly-issued accounting/tax literature; develop and recommend University accounting/tax policies for consideration by management.

Eligible candidates will have a knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting or Finance; three to five years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting, data analysis, and tax accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in financial and cost analysis and reporting tax exempt information is also desired.
