In mentorship, both mentors and mentees benefit by developing rich and unique networks, and by being able to see tasks, skills and issues from different points of view.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nare many mentoring structures to choose from, depending on the goals of the\nmentors and mentees. Below are a few examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Traditional<\/strong> &#8211; a senior employee\nteaches a junior employee the skills necessary to succeed in their company.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Reverse<\/strong> \u2013 a less senior or different\nclassification employee mentors \u201cup.\u201d&nbsp;\nThis is an emerging trend in mentoring, particularly for teaching other\nemployees new technologies, how to use social media, and emerging trends in\ntheir field.<\/li><li><strong>Mutual<\/strong> \u2013 parties with\ndifferences in experience and\/or position level are both free to ask questions\nand learn new skills from each other.<\/li><li><strong>Peer-to-Peer<\/strong> \u2013 employees of comparable\nexperience and position assist one another, each bringing their individual\nstrengths and knowledge to the relationship.<\/li><li><strong>Board of Directors<\/strong> \u2013 acknowledges that\npeople have different strengths and experiences and learning from multiple\nindividuals may be more helpful than relying on a single source. The mentee\nselects several \u201cboard members\u201d based on the mentors\u2019 strengths.<\/li><li><strong>Informal<\/strong> \u2013 an organically\ndeveloped mentoring relationship.&nbsp; Any of\nthe above structures may be informal or formal.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Is there an aspect of your career\nwhere you would benefit from working with a mentor; or from sharing your\nknowledge as a mentor?
