In support of this movement, MSU&#8217;s Sustainability department is looking for the Spartan community to examine the role they play in reducing resources used on campus through participation in the <a href=\"http:\/\/bespartangreen.msu.edu\/news.php?id=2016-12-1-msu-now-accepting-applications-for-green-certification-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spartan Green Certification program<\/a>. The Spartan Green Certification is an online self-assessment program that educates, assists and recognizes units and offices taking steps towards energy efficiency and conservation, waste reduction and recycling, water conservation and sustainable purchasing practices.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  wp-image-11086 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sourcelive.hr.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/spartan-green.jpg?resize=207%2C201\" alt=\"spartan-green\" width=\"207\" height=\"201\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Spartan Green Certified Events will receive a certificate and seal so they can be marketed as green events, which will let event attendees know about the group&#8217;s commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/cert.bespartangreen.msu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">application<\/a> period is now open, and departments have until Friday, March 3, 2017 to apply for certification.
